Our Arizona hunts for Mule Deer, Coues Deer and Elk are all draw hunts with the exception of archery deer, which an over-the-counter permit may be purchased to hunt them for most open areas. Arizona uses a bonus point system so the more points you acquire the better chance you have of drawing your dream tag. Archery deer hunts begin mid-August through September and mid-December through the end of January. The early archery deer hunt is a great time to hunt for your trophy buck. All the bucks are in full velvet and the deer haven`t experienced any pressure since this is the first hunt of the season. The late archery deer hunt is also a great time to hunt trophy bucks. This time of year the deer are in rut and those big bucks that normally stay tucked away all season start to make mistakes and show them-selves. Rifle hunts for Mule deer and Coues deer start in mid October and go through mid November. Rifle Coues deer hunts continue through the end of December, which is great because the deer are rutting this time of year. Muzzleloader deer hunts are tough to draw with as little as 1% draw odds in some areas and hunt dates vary depending on the unit. If you are lucky enough to draw one of these tags you stand a chance at a good buck with a primitive weapon. Archery elk season begins the middle of September through the end of September and the bulls are rutting. This time of year the elk are screaming and the bulls can be called into bow range which makes for a very exciting hunt. Muzzleloader elk season begins right after the archery hunt ends and goes through the first week of October. These hunts are a little harder to draw than the archery hunts but can be very rewarding. The elk are still in rut this time of year and can be called into bow range. The early rifle elk hunt is probably your best bet for bagging the bull of your dreams but the odds of drawing this tag are very low. It may take many years of applying but if you have the patience and a little bit of luck you could go home with a once in a lifetime bull. The elk are in full rut for this hunt .The early rifle elk hunts take place right after the archery hunts end and go into the first week of October. The late rifle elk hunts offer much better draw odds than the early rifle elk hunts. These hunts start from late November and go through the first week of December. By this time of year, the rut is over and the elk are not very vocal. The bigger, more mature bulls are often held up in rougher country where they don’t have to travel far for food and water. We know where to find these bulls this time of year. It will require you to be in good physical shape and be able to shoot your rifle accurately up to at least 350 yards.
